Brockton C of E Primary School is a small nurturing village school with a distinctive family atmosphere.
We are proud to know every child individually allowing us to foster strong relationships that underpin our personalised learning approach. In many cases we have welcomed multiple generations of the same family through our doors! Our children play and learn together in mixed age groups fostering confidence, friendships and a culture of support where older children instinctively look after younger ones.
Our school’s location is truly exceptional. Set in beautiful countryside, our extensive grounds include a large field, woodland, and stream providing an inspiring natural classroom. We frequently take our learning ‘outside the classroom’ and make best use of our facilities for celebratory and community events such as our Easter ‘Boats and Bonnets’ and summer school fete (see FOBS page). We benefit from our very own vegetable garden where children learn to grow their own food. Children also take part in regular forest school sessions in our woodland and outdoor classroom. This access and connection to nature further nurtures their curiosity, resilience and a deep understanding of the world around them.
We are part of The Edge Schools’ Federation, along with two other rural schools. This allows us to benefit from a range of opportunities for collaboration and enrichment. Our children enjoy participating in joint trips and residentials, sports competitions, and other activities that broaden their horizons and help them develop new skills.
We are very lucky to have an integrated nursery provision (link to nursery page), which welcomes children from the age of two, and our thriving toddler group (link to Little Minnows). This seamless early years’ offering ensures children benefit from a caring and consistent environment from their earliest days.
We have a dedicated, enthusiastic and tireless PTA known as the Friends of Brockton School (link to FOBS page) who support us in delivering fun activities and resources for our children across the school.

“What I love most about Brockton Primary school is its focus on developing the whole child. Our son is thriving not just academically, but socially and emotionally too. This is down to the commitment and dedication of the teachers and teaching assistants who really take the time to understand each child individually.
There’s a real sense of community in the school —friendships form both within classes and across year groups, and the older children naturally look out for the younger ones. A great example of this was sports day, where the older children supported the pre-school and reception children to take part in all the events.
The extra-curricular experiences that Brockton provides are fantastic and build children’s confidence in ways that classroom learning cannot. My son particularly enjoyed the Robins Class camp out and the end-of-year performance. The later was a real celebration of the school community – every child had a role, and it was lovely to see how much pride and confidence they gained from being part of something so joyous.
