We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework to give every child the best possible start to their learning journey. The EYFS covers children from birth to age five and sets out how we support their development, keep them safe, and help them become confident, curious learners.
In our nursery, we provide a warm, caring environment where children aged two to four can explore, play, and grow at their own pace. Our staff carefully plan activities around the seven areas of learning, focusing first on the prime areas – communication and language, physical development, and personal, social and emotional development. These foundations help children build the skills they need to talk, move, play with others, and become increasingly independent.
As children move into our reception class, we continue to follow the EYFS while gently introducing more structured learning. We encourage early literacy and numeracy skills through practical, hands-on experiences – from storytelling and phonics games to counting, sorting, and problem-solving. We also value creativity and curiosity, giving children opportunities to explore the world around them, experiment with ideas, and express themselves through art, music, and imaginative play.
Throughout nursery and reception, we observe and track each child’s progress so that we can celebrate their achievements and support them where needed. Most importantly, we make sure learning is play-based, engaging, and fun – because children learn best when they are happy, motivated, and excited to discover new things.
