Keeping children safe online is just as important as keeping them safe in the real world. The internet is a fantastic tool for learning, creativity and staying connected, but it also comes with risks such as cyberbullying, exposure to inappropriate content, and online scams.
As a parent, it’s natural to have concerns about your child’s online safety. We take online safety very seriously and are committed to teach children how to use technology responsibly, developing good habits that will keep them safe as they grow.
What we’re doing in school
We teach our pupils about online safety through our computing curriculum. Lessons cover topics such as:
- How to identify and avoid online risks
- How to behave responsibly online
- How to protect personal information online
- How to report online concerns or incidents
We also use secure filtering systems on all school devices to protect children from harmful content.
Please see our E-Safety Policy for more information, or speak to a member of staff.
What can you do at home?
Parents play a vital role in supporting e-safety at home. Here are some practical steps you can take at home to keep your child safe online:
- Set up parental controls on your home internet and devices
- Set clear rules around screen time
- Use online safety resources and tools to help monitor your child’s online activity
- Talk openly to your child about their online activities
- Encourage your child to come to you if they encounter any online problems or concerns
- Model good online behaviour.
Staying safe online together
By working together, we can help ensure that our children are safe and confident online. If you have any concerns or would like more information about our safety policies and procedures, please speak to a member of staff.
